Cooler temperature = time to knit

Cooler temperature = time to knit
Cooler...well, 25C is cooler. I've been going thru all my patterns, bookmarks and web sites to find the next project. I NEEDED to start on a scarf and on a new pair of socks. The idea is to use up as much of my stash as I can to make space for new purchases....

Another day in Paradise

Another day in Paradise
In fact, I have another 10 days of rest so I can knit, surf, read, anything but stand up too long. Isn't it great? This is why I had time to work on my Amanda As this project is going quite fast, I am planning more, of course and while looking in my knitting...

WHY, OH WHY?

WHY, OH WHY?
I am not a good knitter. I know it. Knitting doesn't come naturally for me and I am really slow at it even though I learned 30 years ago and knitted on and off since then. Slow means that it took me 9 months to finally complete the Lacy Prairie Shawl...

Moving or not moving?
More and more , Canalblog give me error messages, server unavailability or various other messages which makes it time consuming and frustrating to write my posts. Earlier this morning I wrote a post and when I clicked to post it, I just lost everything....

Emotions

Emotions
Can’t write a post this week without talking about it. Only a month ago, my baby was leaving the nest, heading for the big town where she would stay for 9 months and live by herself. Quite a source of worry for a mother already, when someone on a forum...

To spin or not to spin?

To spin or not to spin?
Lately, I've been asking myself that question far too often. While cleaning my studio cupboards, I am always bothered by the pillow covers filled with fleece and rovings. Those take a lot of good storage space and while I am sure the brown ones will probably...

A so-so week

A so-so week
I'll go quickly over the 400 miles drive in a day to go to funerals; quickly too over the overload of work and no time to play; even more quickly over the S***...you know, that white stuff falling from the sky!!! Let's say it's over and I hope the next...

The wind.

The wind.
That's what I call a true Fall day. Since yesterday, all we hear from outside is the wind. Leaves everywhere, broken branches in the streets, the occasionnal trashcan passing in front of the house as if it was a car... It's in that temperature that I...

Lots of rain, very little stitches
We've had it; the perfect November... rain, rain and rain again with some cold and wind. It's okay, I still prefer rain over snow and ice. Not much knitting for me. I was too buzy with the class preparation to think of anything else. Even the torch didn't...

Out of breath
I didn't post last week-end... I can barely keep up with everything. Too many different classes scheduled and I made myself available every thuesday afternoon in between so I ended up overbooked and overwhelmed. Good thing is that I learned a lesson....

A bit of time to upgrade this blog. I've been upgrading my French blog with pictures but never had time for two. So here is a little overview of what I did since last time. Thrift shopping Cleaning Knitting Sewing and making jewelry for swaps I was also...

No snow yet!

No snow yet!
Have I been so buzy that I didn't post for almost 3 weeks? Looking back, I don't have much to report for such a long time. We are still waiting for some snow so it will look like Christmas is coming. Outside lights look so sad without that white stuff....

Buzy week but I knitted

Buzy week but I knitted
Once I subscribed to a KAL... it was Candle Flame. I was rapidly overwhelmed by the speed of some and left far behind so I just forgot about it and ended up by ripping it all to use the yarn for something else. This time, we are only two in that KAL......

I did it!

I did it!
And, I didn't fall once! Boy, I didn't remember ice was that slippery. It wasn't that bad, my legs were shaky, I was scared but I could hold on for 15 minutes the first time, about 10 laps. Then, the next day I did 45 minutes. Of course, I had to rest...

Now that's winter!

Now that's winter!
We finally had snow… too much snow and cold. Winter is slowing me down. I just feel like cuddling under a quilt and even though my head is full of new ideas, mostly for bags, laziness win most of the time. I made two fabric bags. The first one was just...

Weekly news, good ones.

Frozen...inside the house!
When I woke up at 3:30 in the morning, the heating system was off...and wouldn't start! It was 5F outside so not really a good night to lose it. I dressed and cuddled under the covers til my man came back from work. Gladly, he can do everything but it...

Choosing knitting needles

Choosing knitting needles
I rarely go to a LYS. The nearest one is 40 miles from here, they don't speak French ( which is my first language and believe me, I write English much better than I speak ) so most of the time I prefer to mail order. Usually, I plan my purchases so I...

Stash enhancement
Tuesday morning I got my skeins from Ami-Ami . My order was sent by fax on Sunday!! Talk about speed! Okay, they aren't far from here but hey, another seller from whom I bought lately isn't farther and the order took over a week to get here. All the yarns...

Tomorrow, the older of my birds is leaving the nest. She is beginning University in the big town only September 5 but, of course, she is eager to go; no Mom nor Dad to tell her to clean up her room or to help with the housechores. Mom and Dad aren't so...

Why the name Knit and Knot... well, in my little part of the world, for everyone who doesn't know the difference between crafts, everything is called macrame - knots... hence the name. Really, I work with most everything: threads-fibers for knitting,...

Nothing new under the sun

Nothing new under the sun
No decision was taken, I am still wondering if I should spin or not. Call me fatalistic, I think that if I am to spin, something will happen for me to take the decision: I'll meet a teacher, will find a wheel I can afford or even nothing will happen at...

4C degrees
It gave me a shock. It's the first time this season that it's so cold. I am not ready for this yet. Well, in a way, that means hibernating: staying home more often, cuddling under a quilt to watch tv, cooking wonderful soups and stews... not such a bad...

The very early snow falls in some areas of US and
The very early snow falls in some areas of US and Canada had people running into stores to get winter coats and boots. We are no different; while DD is here for the week-end, we had to take her do some shopping so she won’t freeze. We braved the crowds...

It smells Christmas...
...at least at the malls. No way you can go buy a bit of grocery or a magazine without being caught in traffic jams in and out the stores; as if December 1st rang a bell to tell everyone it was time to shop. As much as I can I am staying home but well,...
